New Album

The new album, Hard Times, Lines and Rhymes, funded by The Prince’s Trust is now available to buy.It has been funded by The Prince’s Trust Cash For Communities Awards and has been created by Glasgow Hip Hop artists and centres mainly on their experiences of the city. It has been created in order to raise money for music projects for young people in under-privileged areas of Glasgow and give an insight into life in the great city.
The initial phase of the album invited MCs and producers to get involved and create tracks about their experiences and feelings of Glasgow. The album features 17 tracks by around 25 Glasgow based Hip Hop artists ranging from 16 year-old MCs who have never recorded before to artists who have been holding up the scene for years.

This process has allowed a lot of young artists the opportunity to grow and learn from more experienced artists and encourage further opportunities for young musicians/ performers. It has also brought together a large part of the Glasgow hip hop scene and has tried to present it in a wider picture.

The album will be launched on Wednesday 27th January and will be available to buy through online stores (itunes, napster, etc.) and from Rub-A-Dub, Avalanche Records, Hip Hop Shop, Crowns, with more to be confirmed, from Friday 29th January. Every penny made from album sales will go back into Glasgow-based community music projects.

My name is Louie, I’m quite a humble lad. I write rhymes for a living, everyday my pen is filling pages and that is what gets me out of bed in the morning… I lead workshops encouraging other people to write songs and poems and I get a great deal of satisfaction from watching other people shine. Performing anytime anywhere is the greatest feeling in the world. I also run Resonance Glasgow which provides artists with opportunities in performance, recording and networking. Through Resonance we have managed to secure dribs and drabs of funding for some short term contracts with various artists leading and assisting in paid community workshops. I think its important to get creative people working in tandum for common goals. I’m also on the board of Strategic Music Partnership and Youth Music Forum. I just live for the music, and strive to help people who I respect and admire. I try to see the best in everyone and I value the wee things that we so often take for granted. I guess I’m just trying to smile everyday with the funky music. That’s all really.. ITSTHEFUCKINDEADLIFE

It’s Swad or the Sintaktishin’. Just stepped into audio so excuse my upcomin’ work as i’ll probably experiment a bit. Been at the lyrical side for quite a while now, just over 3 year, & love it. Cannae see me stoppin’, so expect good things. Started rappin’ (or textin’) online & still at it the day, although I cannae be arsed ALOT. (ask Grim haha). Like to think i’m unique in the way I write, love usin’ symbolism & everyhin’ else that I hated in English. Catch u soon…maybe?

Real A promotes dyslexia awareness

Real A at St Margarets Academy
Currently Real A is touring schools in Scotland promoting dyslexia awareness with Dyslexia Scotland. He has been performing his latest single, Can’t Hold Me Down, and talking about his own personal battle with dyslexia.

So far he has visited Longniddry Primary, Preston Lodge School, Glasgow Gaelic School, St. Roc’s Secondary, Falkland House School, Oatridge College, St. Margaret’s and is due to visit many more.
